The History

In 1970 Jeff Johnson surprised his pregnant wife, Patti, with news that he had traded their Manhattan beach home for a small boat and had plans to sail away and raise a family on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Patti's response? Buy a plastic compass, canned goods to sustain a man for a couple weeks and a plane ticket.

Upon landing on the island of Oahu, Jeff felt free to do what he had always wanted to: he worked tirelessly to understand. He worked to understand the art of exploration - using his compass and rudimentary knowledge of celestial navigation to sail to obscure islands across the pacific. He worked to understand the art of surfing - throwing himself repeatedly at the mountains of energy crashing into Oahu's coastline. And he worked to understand the art of raising a family - or more precisely, to understand Patti who among many things worked tirelessly to teach him about love and family. Together, these endeavors formed the backdrop for his daily pursuit of working to understand the art of carpentry - building homes across the Northern and Eastern shores of Oahu.

The oldest of the three sons, Trent grew up watching his father's tireless endeavor to understand as well as his mother's to love. They both informed him

After attending university in California, he returned home to share the lifestyle, family and friends he grew to love as a kid with his future wife Lynne.

Working as an architect, Trent envisioned a career in design, but soon felt a passion to understand the art of physically bringing that design into being. He's been building homes ever since.

Infusing the unique lifestyle as well as passion and craft into his work.
